Essentially, this is about one man's journey of struggling to exist in what's supposed to be the greatest, and wealthiest democracy in the world. Because of unfair, bad, abusive, corrupt policies in modern America, Joe can't get a job, except for driving a cab. A story of one man's journey whose life is such a mess because of crooked politicians and crooked corporations, his life gets even messier when he becomes a cab driver. When Joe realizes the government voted to make it legal for corporations to run credit checks on job applicants for a job and making it legal for landlords to run credit checks on apartment renters applying for an apartment, he finds himself in a constant race against time to avoid homelessness and starvation. Without getting his New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission cab driver's license, driving in all kinds of extreme weather, and driving crack-heads and drug dealers and risking his life, and interacting with real New York City taxi drivers and cab drivers, this book could not have been written. This book is fictional, but the stories are mostly true, adapted from my identical twin brother's years as a cab driver and New York City yellow taxi driver. This book may have a roughness to its writing, because Joe wrote this book under constant pressure on scraps of paper on the way home from work on the bus or on the train or on the Staten Island ferry, or in his cab. He called this his taxi driver journal. If you've ever enjoyed a story of an underdog battling giants, and that we all have a purpose in life, and things happen for a reason, and there's a bigger picture to our lives and the lives of many others than we think. And that having even just the littlest hope can impact a life or lives, this is a story like that. His darkest memories he keeps to himself.
